Author Shika Nelson

   I am a Native of New Orleans. As a child, I  had dreams of becoming a criminal defense attorney  with future goal to become a judge. I am a college graduate with both an Associate's and bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. It wasn't until I learned of Nikki Giovanni and Langston Hughes that my career goals started to change. I feel in love with writing at the age of 14. I love  writing poems and short stories. I am a mother, wife, and a avid New Orleans Saints fan. I self published my first book in March 2019. 

    My first book in the Right Before Your Eyes series, Trust Him is a love story. Deja and Terrell are high school sweethearts and new parents. When tradegy strikes, Deja is left heartbroken and depressed. When she meets Derrick, she wonders if she could have a life  full of love and happiness again. With the encouragement and support of family and friends, Deja and Derrick embark on a journey of love.....but will Derrick's secrets leave Deja heartbroken and depressed once again?

    My second book, Cast Your Burdens tells a story of a family struggling with generational curses. Three siblings cope with sexual assault, domestic violence, betrayal and grief as they navigate through life.
